Gains are always hard earned but very rarely come in nicely wrapped packages.
I got an uppercut to the face about this from the results of one of our clients. He is a realtor and puts in a ton of time on the job. He is successful and has a new girlfriend. He’s been making steady progress for the last year both movement and strength wise. And by progress I mean the guy is f$cking jacked - we call him tiNy. Yet, recently we hit a pothole. We took the time and got a full OmegaWave reading that set off some alarms. Highly sympathetic dominant and the detox and hormonal systems were showing less than ideal function. He bought in and we did some additional digging. We ran a LEAP food sensitivity test and a full Adrenal and Hormone Panel.
He had 30+ food sensitivities and was in Adrenal Fatigue pretty badly. It’s been a good two months and we have him on a recovery protocol - he hits the pillow before 10p, works on his breathing throughout the day, avoids all reactive foods, alcohol, sugar, and caffeine, and is trying his best to unplug in the evenings from work.
Today he Front Squatted 225 for 9 reps
His previous max was 240.
This is after moving him to two training days a week and three purely active recovery days. Instead of a 4/2 template.
Sometimes ladies and gentlemen less is more.
But, that doesn’t mean it will be easy for you or your client.
