The Age of Self Promotion

If you have to explain that you are an expert – you already lost.

We live in an age of self-promotion. To a certain degree, who can yell the loudest for attention. Yet, true mastery takes a lifetime. Coach Foreman of Catalyst Athletics states that this is the era of youtube masters - these people are jacks of all trades, party tricks, and cues, yet masters of none because they do not know the why, when, or thought process behind their use. They have not interned or put in the time in the trenches to have respect or know how to hold themselves in this arena.

Sleep When You're Dead?

In a recent Performance Podcast, Robert Dos Remedios asked himself the cliché question, “If you only had one exercise to do the rest of your life what would you pick?”

He said “Sleep.”

In our culture sleep seems to be synonymous with lazy. Yet, how many Americans under-sleep and are over-stressed, but hey they are chasing that dream. Get R Dun…but there will most likely be a price to pay at the end of your rampage.

Full Circle

Today I made the decision that after I graduate from UT I will not pursue an academic or university based position. I will continue to work in the private sector and just devote more time to the business of building health one client at a time. Some might ask what will you really be able to do with only a PhD and not an M.D? And to that I would respond – everything except hand out prescriptions – which I wouldn’t do anyways.
