Three Tips to a Fitness Friendly Thanksgiving

Three Tips to a Fitness Friendly Thanksgiving

  1. Buy the highest quality ingredients you can find - Eat. Enjoy it. Be Thankful.
  • Purchase an Organic Free Range Turkey from Natural Grocers or a Farmer’s Market in your area.
  • Use Grass-Fed Butter. It’s delicious.
  • Don’t buy canned Pumpkin or canned Cranberries – instead make it from fresh organic ingredients. All can linings are riddled with BPA (derived from synthetic estrogen)
  • Make your own stuffing from sprouted bread.
  • Buy Non-GMO corn bread no one will know except Mansanto!
  • If you can - don’t even make the pies. Desert is not a food group that matters and pounding a bunch of sugar and taking a nap is not really being with your loved ones.

Don’t worry about how much crappy food your money can buy, worry about the source of your food and allow those farmers and companies who really care about your health to have a great Thanksgiving as well.

  1. Increase your NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) otherwise known as not watching as much TV.
  • Put a flannel on and help a neighbor with some landscaping.
  • Take on a project that has been on your to-do list forever and ask someone if they want to help.
  • Clean the gutters. Maybe not.
  • Do the dishes by hand. Again, maybe not.
  • Play real football.

Thanksgiving is synonymous with eating and hibernating. Break this trend. Do some stuff.

  1. I hate these type of posts so you don’t get a third.
  • Be Thankful you got 2.

Thanksgiving is about truly being with your family and friends. This is not a time for your exercise addiction or your closet orthorexia to take the main stage. Get your lifts in and leave them in the gym. Leave your “diet” at the wayside and eat quality foods sensibly. Be Thankful and BE with your Family.
